Nur Syafiqa Balqis

 As a registered clinical psychologist, Syafiqa believes in the power of a safe and non-judgmental space where clients can openly explore their thoughts and emotions as they learn to navigate life challenges and strive towards making positive impacts in their lives.  


Throughout her experience, Syafiqa has worked with adults, children and adolescents from diverse backgrounds, including marginalised communities. She’s passionate about providing culturally informed and evidenced-based mental health services to the community. Her clinical experiences in government hospitals, private centres and university settings have equipped her with the knowledge and clinical skills to offer psychological assessments and interventions for adults, children and adolescents, mainly with neurodevelopmental disorders, anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorders, trauma and personality disorders. In the past, Syafiqa has engaged in giving talks, workshops and support groups on youth mental health. She also has experience in executive coaching which caters to employees’ general wellness, coping skills, stress management and resilience building.  


Syafiqa adopts an integrative approach in therapy, by combining different modalities that may include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectic Behaviour Therapy or Solution-Focused Therapy. She also believes in the Person-centered approach that fits the betterment of her client’s condition, while enhancing the individual’s strengths, skills and eventually quality of life.  


Syafiqa holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). She also graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in  Psychology from the International University of Malaya-Wales (IUMW), Kuala Lumpur. Syafiqa is now a registered clinical psychologist under the Malaysian Allied Health Profession Council (MAHPC).
